Wüsthof
Wüsthof – A Family Company Since 1814
Johann Abraham Wüsthof founded "Shears Factory, Steel and Iron Works" in 1814. Thanks to his three sons the company grew and gained greater recognition over the years and one of them - Eduard Wüsthof - eventually took over the factory and expanded the range to include 1,200 models of various handmade pocket, bread, vegetable, and butcher's knives. At the same time another brother Robert Wüsthof – went to America, where he eventually managed to establish some new business relationship that brought the Wüsthof family’s premium blades to the USA. Meanwhile, his brothers in Germany took advantage of the industrialization process and bought a steam-powered machine, expanded production and applied for patents and the iconic trident logo.
Today, the company still stays in the hands of family and the seventh generation of Wüsthof family members, cousins Viola Wüsthof and Harald Wüsthof, run what has become one of the most innovative knife manufacturers in the world.
