Slicing knives – sharp knives for slicing and carving

What is a slicer knife?

A slicing knife is a long, thin-bladed knife with a pointed or curved tip made for thin slicing of different types of food. Slicing knives are pretty universal but you may also want to buy special knives for slicing ham, cheese or cutting bread.

Even though the majority of slicing knives have razor-sharp edges, do not use them to cut through bones or harder foods.

What to consider when choosing a slicer knife?

In Kulina you will find many high-quality slicing knives made by such manufacturers as Wusthof, Zwilling, Dellinger or F.DICK. When choosing your knife take into consideration:

  • steel quality - the material of a slicing knife should be always taken into account. Choose a high-quality carbon stainless steel model since it guarantees the best performance and durability.
  • blade length - depending on what you want to slice with your knife, go for a proper length razor-sharp blade for ideal, thin slices.
  • handle comfort - make sure your knife feels comfortable and ensures a firm grip

How to take care of your slicing knife?

Kitchen knives are quite an investment so if you want your slicing knife to last for ages, make sure you follow these simple rules for cleaning and storing your knives:

  • knives are often dishwasher-safe but we recommend you clean your knife by hand as dishwasher detergents can damage the surface of a steel blade
  • if a knife has a wooden handle, do not put it in the dishwasher
  • to prevent wooden handles from becoming dry, regularly oil them with linseed oil or beeswax
  • store your ham knife separately so that the blades do not get dull. Use a knife block or rack or a knife case
  • sharpen your knife regularly using a knife sharpener
  • use a cutting board that is knife-friendly
