Plate sets – add a bit of style to your dining table

What are the different styles of plate sets?

In Kulina we offer a wide variety of plate sets, based on the occasion and your own style preferences. These are a few examples of common plate set designs:

Classic: Classic plate sets often include straightforward, beautiful patterns and subtle textures. They may have a little formal feel to them due to the focus on conventional forms and colours.

Asian: Traditional Chinese or Japanese porcelain and ceramic patterns are commonly used as inspiration for Asian-style plate sets. They usually have a minimalist aesthetic with clean lines and a neutral colour scheme, and they may have delicate floral or geometric designs. If you are looking for a set of Japan hand-made ceramics check out our offer of Made in Japan brand - a brand truly made in Japan.

Rustic: Rustic plate sets usually include organic, rough-textured, and earth-toned motifs. They often have a homemade or imperfect appearance and may be constructed of materials like earthenware or stoneware. If you like this style check out the products by Bitz.

Minimalist: Minimalist plate sets often include clear lines, straightforward designs, and a place more emphasis on practicality. They usually have a very modern or contemporary feel and can be constructed of materials like white porcelain.

Plastic plates: Plastic plates are great for garden parties, birthday parties or BBQs. Make sure you check the offer by Koziol brand for a choice of different colours.

Is it rude to stack plates at the table?

In some cultures and contexts, stacking plates at the table may be considered rude or disrespectful since it might be seen as a sign of impatience. Yet, stacking dishes could be permitted or even promoted in different environments or cultures. Understanding your local social and cultural norms is crucial.

How do I place the plates on the table?

Place the dinner plate in front of the chair on a placemat. Put the soup plate on it. The bread plate can be positioned above the forks, on the left side of the table setting. If the cake is being served, a separate cake plate can be put above the cutleries.

Make sure there is adequate room between the plates so that guests can utilise them without feeling crowded. Each dish should be evenly spaced from the others and the other items of the place setting.
