Chandeliers – add a touch of elegance to your interior

What are chandeliers?

Chandeliers are branching decorative lighting fixtures that are often installed on ceilings, like pendant lamps. They often have several arms or branches that hold several light bulbs.

Chandeliers are often found in formal places like dining rooms, entryways, and grand staircases, but they can also be utilised in bedrooms, living rooms, and other areas within the house.

What are the types of chandeliers?

Chandeliers are decorative light fixtures that hang from the ceiling and often feature multiple arms or branches with light sources. They come in various styles, sizes, and designs to suit different interior aesthetics. Here are some common types of chandeliers:

  1. Crystal Chandelier: These chandeliers are adorned with crystal elements, such as glass prisms and beads, which create a dazzling display of light reflections. Crystal chandeliers can range from traditional and ornate designs to more modern and minimalist styles.

  2. Traditional Chandelier: Traditional chandeliers typically feature classic designs, intricate details, and ornate metalwork. They often evoke a sense of elegance and luxury, with elements like candle-style bulbs and decorative embellishments.

  3. Modern Chandelier: Modern chandeliers feature clean lines, minimalistic designs, and contemporary materials. They can range from sleek and geometric to abstract and artistic, incorporating materials like metal, glass, and sometimes unconventional elements.

  4. Art Deco chandelier: A type of decorative lighting fixture that embodies the characteristics and design elements of the Art Deco movement, which emerged in the early 20th century. Art Deco is a style that is characterized by its bold geometric shapes, luxurious materials, and a sense of modernity and elegance. Art Deco chandeliers are known for their distinctive aesthetic and can serve as both functional lighting and artistic focal points in interior spaces.

  5. Murano Glass Chandelier: Murano glass chandeliers are known for their intricate glasswork and vibrant colors. They are often handcrafted on the island of Murano in Italy and are highly prized for their artistic value.

How to clean a chandelier?

Due to the specific types of material used in constructing chandeliers, they inevitably deteriorate over time. However, you can slow the process down by adhering to certain maintenance tips.

When cleaning your fixture, you will first need a stepladder and a cloth to lay beneath your chandelier. The drop cloth will collect any dust, chandelier parts, or crystals that fall during the cleaning procedure while the ladder makes it easy to securely and properly clean the chandelier.

When cleaning your chandelier, put on cotton gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints, and use a dry cotton towel to wipe off the frame of the light.

Use a natural, water-based cleaning solution to get rid of tough stains or buildup on crystals but be careful not to get any wet solutions on the chandelier's metal components. Always ensure you use a dry cloth or wool duster to routinely dust your chandelier.

These are just a few examples of the many types of chandeliers available. The choice of chandelier type depends on the overall decor style of the space and the ambiance you wish to create.

Other categories of decorative lighting, such as table lamps, wall lights, standing lamps, and outdoor lights, are available in addition to our ceiling lights which also include pendant lamps.
